Instruction leaflet
- Who, where, when
- Ludovico Gardenghi (garden, Ludo etc.); born in the early '80s. I live in the vicinity of Paris.
- What am I paid for
- I keep up and running the production servers at Brainsonic. I've been a R&D engineer, a PhD student, a systems and networks administrator (again), a Site Reliability Engineer.
- How to contact me
- I've a lot of accounts out there. gardengl on GMail and Google Talk it's a good starting point. Other ways to contact me are left as an exercise for who feels adventurous (TV says Internet is full of bad places.) I have a Wiki page where I try to collect the scripts I write and similar stuff.
- Pieces of paper
- Scientific High School Degree; B.S. and M.Sc. in Computer Science, University of Bologna.
- Current, past and who-can-tell CS/IT interests
- Ideally: administration of (big scale) production *X systems and TCP/IP networks, including security issues; development of system tools (C/C++/Python/Bash/Go). But I've also worked on libraries for MPEG4 streaming, parallel and distributed simulation, virtualization of networks and operating systems. I'm a Debian Developer, though a bit lazy one due to scarcity of time. Anything else?
- CS/IT disinterests
- User interfaces (I can't manage to create good ones, I'm more of a console user). Too abstract or self-referential software engineering (things work not because you are good at selling them, but because they're well written).
- Other interests
- If I had more time, organ music — especially Bach and Italian authors of the XIX century. Or accordion. Or some other instrument. In short — music. I studied improvisational theatre for some years; now I don't for linguistic inability. I like to take pictures, but I don't put much time in it and I usually don't share them online (although, as I said, I do have accounts). I wander through Paris with my in-line skates and recently I'm experimenting with rock climbing. As a rule of thumb, I tend to complicate my life — if it's worth it.
- Compasses (such things as ‘politicalsexualreligious orientation’ and the like)
- They seldom point north — if they do, they've thought about that well.
- Codes & secrets
- To whom it may concern, I provide my Geek Code and my OpenPGP public key. Whoever wants my resume can contact me. Else, one of the aforementioned bad places where I have an account is LinkedIn. For everything else, quaerendo invenietis.
Not-so-F FAQs
- Do you have orange hair?
- I had it. It's been funny (although the skin hurted a bit), I could do it again.
- This home page is useless in nowadays' social and 2.0+ world. What's the use of this?
- You can hit Ctrl-W (or ⌘-W).
- Why ‘Acheronte’?
- It is so willed where will and power are one, and ask no more.
- Do you own a blog (yet another of those out of fashion things)?
- I do, not updated for years. It's called Bruscolini. Who knows, I could post something new in the future.
- I have an inordinate desire to make you a present. What do you want?
- I have some suggestions (in Italian).
- So? End of web page? Already?
- If you think something should be added, tell me. I might add it.
